Indian Motorcycle @ Melrose Arch
There is a new kid in town, absolutely epic, born to lead as only a legend can. Stripped down and designed to be desired, a modern classic with American heritage that dates back 117 years. This lad is the very new and exciting 2018 Indian Scout Bobber. The Indian Scout Bobber has an incredible 100hp liquid-cooled V-Twin motor that makes the most beautiful noise. Unique and different and everything about this bike screams quality and new beginnings. This is no adventure bike but you don’t want to start your adventure without one. This is the launch of the 2018 Indian Bobber. What is a Bobber you may ask? I would classify it as something between a cruiser that is naked and café racer with very big wheels and loads of charisma.
Let me start my story at the beginning. It is Wednesday night the 24th January 2018 and I am attending the opening of the brand new Indian Motorcycle Dealership in the heart of Melrose Arch. According to CEO and owner Bryan Berger, this is the first of many dealerships to be opened for the Indian Motorcycle brand in South Africa. Mr Berger and his team delivered an incredible evening; many thanks to him and his team for putting this epic brand on the map in South Africa.
The launch of the dealership and Bobber was well coordinated and organised. Well done to all who made this launch the massive success that it was.
This special evening was more about the dealership than the bikes, rightfully so because that is exactly why we were there. I believe that the launch of this dealership will become a historic event in the future of this amazing brand in South Africa. Why are dealerships so important? We need a dealer to provide backup and after-sales services. We need a dealership where we can go to, to help maintain and service our investment. We need a dealership that can provide the brand conscious rider with accessories that will enhance his ride, and gear that will emphasise the rider’s style and uniqueness. Can this dealership accommodate all of what I just said? Of course, it can. This dealership to me is out of this world and in more ways than one similar to BMW’s Lifestyle Centres. When you buy a motorcycle from Indian Motorcycle Melrose Arch you will become part of their family and you have bought into a lifestyle that is extremely premium, sophisticated and unique.
On arrival to this beautiful place I felt welcome but at the same time overwhelmed by the huge presence of this brand. Everything at this new dealership impressed my boots off and tells you in your face that what you see and experience here are designed to impress. Words like quality, premium, over-the-top-style and uniqueness describe the explosion of excitement best that my fragile mind experienced. You must take your time to absorb all the detail in the shop.
Everything you look at is new and different and extremely desirable.
Indian Motorcycle has partnered with one of Africa’s finest rewards programmes called Legacy Lifestyle that will also offer you rewards and benefits at many Legacy Lifestyle partners across the African continent. By swiping your card at a Legacy Lifestyle partner, you will receive cash back discounts and if that is not enough you will also get discount on the best available rates at any Legacy Hotel and Resort. This will be very convenient when your “ride-the-wrong-way-home” turns into a weekend away or midweek getaway.
This evening held a huge unexpected surprise when Indian Motorcycle Melrose Arch launched the brand new 2018 Indian Scout Bobber. The Bobber is a model to be desired, but I have already spilt the beans in my intro. Some say money can’t buy happiness, but I say it is impossible not to be happy having one of these ladies in parked in your living room. Nothing about this has any aftertaste of stereotype or routine. Everything here feels out of the ordinary and out of this world, you have to go and see for yourself.
If you are interested in something American, top quality and solid, you are staring it in the face.
I look forward to testing this Bobber soon, so keep an eye out for future reviews on Bike Talk. For now go visit this dealership for yourself at 5 The-High-Street, Melrose Arch.
